Osvaldo explains that this new arrangement of "Dreams and Prayers" for string orchestra and clarinet can be performed with most any group of forces—split orchestra size would be fine. A conductor is required to navigate the transitions smoothly. Todd Palmer is one of only two clarinetists authorized to perform the orchestra version during the exclusivity period, which runs through 2009.
“The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind” was Osvaldo Golijov’s first large-scale work, and has been performed more than any other of his compositions since its premiere in 1994.
“Dreams” is about 35 minutes in length, and is a work of grand scope and contrasts.
