The Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet's latest recording entitled "Danses et Divertissements" (BIS 1532) features music of Taffanel, Jolivet, Tomasi, and the quintet for piano and winds by Poulenc (with Stephen Hough). It has already garnered exceptional praise:
"Poulenc's lyricism is treated with sensitivity and discretion, neither over-egged nor undernourished. Moments where the music might threaten to sound portentious are poignantly voiced. Following the recent retirement of founding bassoonist Henning Trog, the quintet is delighted to announce that their Berlin Philharmonic bassoon colleague Marion Reinhard has accepted their invitation to join the quintet in Henning's place. They return to North America twice next year, in both Spring and Fall 2010.
